About
I’ve always used a macro perspective to initially frame investment options or other decision-making and then I glean more specific micro information on the way to a conclusion. Being a student of the Seven Revolutions, the thunder clouds certainly appear to be building towards a perfect storm scenario in Resource Management. I believe it will prove to be the single biggest economic, social and political hot button issue over the next 25 years. Energy infrastructure will need to change drastically in the long-term, but the best short-term solution is energy efficiency. Green building practices and green products can address energy efficiency and sustainability today. Meanwhile, strides toward renewable energy and other technologies can begin to address the infrastructure on a gradual basis. Professional/Educational Background I alluded to my investment finance background and I started down that path almost 10 years ago when I co-founded the Penn State Investment Association (PSIA). This organization would ultimately manage the multi-million dollar Nittany Lion Fund, the first strictly undergraduate managed investment fund of its kind. In addition to my involvement with PSIA, I served as a director and then chairman of the Business Roundtable and was the founding student director on the Smeal College Community Advisory Board. I also was the two-time host and organizer of Smeal Survivor (now known as The Next CEO), a business simulation competition sponsored by the college and the Washington, D.C.-based Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), a non-partisan think tank. In 2003, I graduated from Penn State concurrently with a B.S. in Finance and a B.A. in Economics as a Schreyer Scholar. I then began my professional career as a mergers and acquisitions analyst at Merrill Lynch, where I advised a variety of large corporate clients on domestic and international transactions valued at over $15 billion. In 2005, I joined the global alternative asset manager, Fortress Investment Group. For almost 3 years I specialized in evaluating, acquiring, and managing the groups’ transportation and shipping investments including 5 completed deals valued at over $9 billion. Today, in addition to my green sales and consulting, I also consult for startups, corporations and non-profits in a variety of other capacities. Outside of work I have volunteered in a number of ways for the Smeal College Alumni Society Board and Schreyer Honors College, most notably as a mentor. In 2008, I co-founded the Lions on Wall Street Alumni Society, serve on its board of directors and co-chair the Events Committee. In 2009, I received the Smeal Outstanding Young Alumnus Award. As my interest in all things green has grown, I continually pursue continuing education opportunities. To date, I have taken the following courses: Environmental Policy & Economics, Wind Turbine Technology, Green Roof Systems, IR Heat Reflective Wall Coatings and Energy Systems & Economic Development.
